The Myth of Birthstones
In 1912, what was originally called the National Association of Retail Jewelers (NARJ), created the modern birthstone chart.

They arbitrarily picked stones that were selling well and were in good supply and randomly applied them to each month! The chart has been tweaked and added to with no rhyme or reason over the years.
The problem with this method (other than the obvious fact that the chart was created for commercialism and retail profit) is our society attempts to align birthstones with our astrological signs, for example:
Gemini=Moonstone
Caner=Emerald
Leo=Diamond, etc.

Taurus April 20 – May 20
Gemini May 21 – June 20
Cancer June 21 – July 22
Leo July 23 – August 22
Virgo August 23 – September 22
Libra September 23 – October 22
Scorpio October 23 – November 21
Sagittarius November 22 – December 21
Capricorn December 22 – January 19
Aquarius January 20 – February 18
Pisces February 19 – March 20
However, the astrological signs DO NOT correlate every 28, 30, or 31 days to the beginning and end of each of our months. There is no possible way for the modern birthstone chart to be accurate. A more accurate pairing of gemstones and birthdays would be to follow the 15,000 year old Vedic energy rules to apply a stone to our needs.
