This is a follow up to my popular companion post, How to Protect Your Energy. But, even with the best energy intention setting protection, sometimes you feel like you are under psychic attack: bombarded, overwhelmed, flooded – by other people’s energy coming at you.

It’s important to note that nine times out of ten, the person attacking you with their energy is unaware that they are doing this. They are not a “bad” person. It’s often a loved one, or co-worker or someone you have contact with on a regular basis who is feeling upset and they wish to express this with you. Their energy boundaries are messy. On a psychic level they are spewing low vibration vibes (anger, frustration, bitterness, harshness, etc.) out. They are either pointing it all at you as they try to get their needs met (think about the upset person who says, “Can I talk to you for a minute?”) or they are just stewing in their own low vibes and they let the whole world know they are upset.

So, what should you do about it?

Follow these steps exactly to get yourself back into alignment and clarity:

Turn your body away from the person immediately.

Do not let your solar plexus (area right above your stomach) face the person. Cross your arms over your stomach. Turn your body so it is not facing the person directly. Your solar plexus is a chakra center that is associated with being your power and control center. Often, this is the place where you pick up other people’s energy. Chords can become attached (good and not so good) and it gets full of the energy from those around you. When someone is spewing low vibration energy, cover this space so it doesn’t become flooded with their vibes.

Get out of their energy field as soon as possible.

Walk away from them. Do not engage in discussion with them. If they have entered your space, ask them to leave. If they won’t leave get up and leave on your own. Often, when people are stewing in their own low vibes, they don’t realize they are sending it out to you like barbed wires or daggers. They think they are “just talking” with you but also along with that, on this subtle energy level, they are sending you their low vibes and it can feel suffocating. Do not speak with them while they are in this state as it can be energetically damaging to you. Excuse yourself from their energy field immediately and don’t look back. Hold a firm boundary as they will try to re-engage with you. Don’t play into it. Speak as little as possible and get out of the way.

Change your clothes.

Your clothing is often the first thing to receive the imprint of toxic vibration. Get out of your outfit as soon as possible and change into something more comfortable. Wash the clothing as soon as possible after it has been dumped on by the low vibe person.

Exercise.

After an animal has suffered a shock, it will often physically shake out the low vibe energy from its body. You can do this too. Go for a run. Go for a walk in the forest and practice shinrin yoku. Get on the treadmill for 30 minutes. It doesn’t matter what you do (well, maybe not a relaxing, restorative yoga class) as long as you are moving and “shaking” off all the toxic vibration that came at you. Move until you feel that it has all left your body.

Take a shower.

Literally wash the rest of the energy off of you. Let it wash down the drain. Do not take a bath, you’ll just sit in it all over again. Wash it off. Cleanse yourself.

After you’ve cleansed yourself do something to build the good vibes back up:

Chant high vibe mantras.

Drink heart warming tea.

Apply high vibe essential oils.

Listen to music that passionately stirs your soul.

Join other high vibe people, just be sure to not rehash what just happened to you as it can often cause you to slip back down into the low vibe energy.

Read devotional text.

Meditate.

Basically, do anything and everything to bring yourself back into high vibe joy!
