Blue Jay Feather Meaning

PODCAST

BLOG POST

So there it was, just sitting on the sidewalk, when I was taking out the garbage; this small bright, iridescent blue jay feather.Β  I smiled as I marveled at its brilliance.

Now, jump back to Wednesday evening and the Psychic and Spiritual DevelopmentΒ class I was teaching.Β  I asked the participants that evening if they had been experiencing any synchronicities from spirit as of late (we have several regulars who have been dropping in frequently).Β  I was curious to know if their spiritual worlds were opening for them during the weekdays between our class.Β  After various people shared their tidbits I encouraged the group to watch in the coming week for a synchronistic sign from spirit so they could share it at our next class session.

When class was over and we were wrapping things up in the waiting area of the office, my co-teacher Maura noticed a brilliant blue jay feather sitting on the porch entry way to the building.Β  She hadn’t remembered it being there at the start of class but we all remarked how beautiful it was.

Now, fast forward to today when I was taking out the trash… my synchronistic moment just happened- two beautiful feathers in three days,Β from the same kind of bird no less.

The meaning of blue jays in shamanistic terms:

*Pay attention to nonverbal cues of the people around you.

*Choose a spiritual path and go as far down it as you can.

*If fear presents itself, attack it head on with courage.

*Asses your talents and make a plan to use them fully.

*Choose a couple of the many projects on your plate and complete them.

Yep, that all fits my life right about now.Β  What about you?

I found 4 blue jay feathers taking out the trash tonight. I am going through a rough time right now. I had 2surgeries for breast cancer 3 months ago. During my radiation treatments they found lung cancer. Totally unrelated just Devine coincidence. I am waiting on surgery in 2 weeks to remove half my right lung. I take finding them as a very good sign that I am going to be ok. Thank you for your story.

I have gotten visits from cardinals and blue jays for a while now. I had a vision of a blue jay during a recent mediation. Not long after that I thought it would be amazing confirmation to receive a cardinal or blue jay feather. Within a week- I came upon my first blue jay feather. I found another one later that same week. And now about 2 months out- I have collected 4. It’s so amazing the gifts that the universe is able to send us when we are paying attention.

    Lovely connection to spirit.
Today as I thought a silent prayer for help with a personal project and walked to my car within 3 steps there lay a five inch long perfect blue jay feather in front of my car. Thank you angels for always letting me know you are with me.
    Blessings to all.

Ironically a year ago is when we found our first blue jay feather. I sent my kids out on a nature scavenger hunt while my husband and I packed for a weekend trip. He had surprised me with Theresa Caputo tickets. To my surprise my son came in with a perfect blue jay feather . Wow! My dad had passed away a couple years before and that’s when I started seeing blue jays in odd places. BUT this was our first feather. Well wouldn’t you know out of a theater full of 1000+ people Theresa Caputo gave me a reading from my Dad!!! Well feathers of all kinds starting showing up. HOWEVER. this past month I found 8!!! Eight blue jay feathers, on different days in totally different locations. I found everythg from the perfect tail feather , to the wings , to the small patterned blue jay feathers. Each time I found them they were laying as if someone β€œplaced β€œ them???!? Always face up. One was actually standing straight up. When I was In The woods I could be walking on a leaves and old road bed Etc but then a carpet like moss patch would have the feather laying there. Until I experienced losing a close family member I never realized their Spirit could leave signs symbols and I never knew about synchronicity. Ironically a tragedy opened me up to what’s really going on …. we are so much more than flesh and blood we are a living soul. I enjoyed your article.

Today while visiting with my sister I came across a Bleu Jay feather and told them ….feathers are angels….my grandson only 27 months was on his tricycle beside me and with his little voice says Daddy is an angels in heaven….(his father, my son passed away 6 months ago…he was only 21 months). It was very touching…he was the love of his life and I know he always watching over him…..

My husband and I are going through a divorce, and it’s very hard on us and my teenage son. There are so many problems involved with financial, trust, and too many other factors to mention. We are selling our home, and everything we own, just about, trying to gather money. I believe in animal spirit meanings, and have been finding blue jay feathers in my path almost every day now, sometimes two and three times a day . Today I came across three in my path where my husband is staying at the moment. Just lying in my path, after having conversations (not good) with my husband. There is so much sadness and anger and confusion in all three of us. Can you tell me what these feathers mean, what is spirit trying to tell me? Blue jays are plentiful in our region, so maybe there is no specific meaning, but I had to ask.

A little over 2 weeks ago while working I was was walking back to my car when by glance I happen to spot a Blue Jay tail feather. I was pretty excited thinking it’s cool, finding one of these has to be rare. I didn’t think much after and moved on with my life until a few days later. While walking out of a building the same thing happens, I just so happen to glance at the ground and there it was my second Blue Jay tail feather. It is at this point I start to feel a certain way about it and start scouring the internet for meaning, even coming across this web site. I read but didn’t think to post anything. So for the next couple of days while working I constantly look at the ground hoping that as rare as it has to be I would spot another feather. Several days pass and my instinct to look at the ground and hope to find another feather has passed. . . That is when it happens. While walking back to my car and stepping of the sidewalk curb by glance I spot two feathers, I lean in closer and their they are two Blue Jay tail feathers. I’ve collected 4 Blue Jay tail feathers at 3 different locations in less than 2 weeks. I have not seen an actual Blue Jay since, during, or for about at least a month before my majestic finds.

      Hi there.

I live in the south of England. I dont recall ever seeing a blue jay in all of my 39 years of living here and i am a bird watcher.
I have had a really rough week this week and 2 days ago i started gardening and as i reached into a plant i put my fingers on a tiny little blue jay feather. I have been surrounded with feathers this last month every day but this was a first.
I love messages from spirit. It makes me feel so connected amongst this harsh world.
I am in a place of wanting to step up my spiritual work, i have noticed i am opening up to alot more communication with spirit.
Thanks so much for this post! Wonderful to have found this website.

I found a blue jay feather in my front yard. The thing is I have lived here 12 years and not once seen a blue jay. We have doves, cardinals, crows, hawks, falcons, Robbins, woodpeckers, owls, coyotes, deer, opossum and raccoons but no blue jays. But recently about a month ago while in Sweden had a sesiΓ³n sesiΓ³n with a well know soul reader and she informed me that I was a powerful healer and I must hold onto and use the powerful connection I have already forged between myself and nature especialy wolves. She told me I was marked by the wolf. I have a tattoo of a wolfs paw print that say I will walk with you underneath it. It is on the front of my shoulder but my shirts always cover it so no one can see. She also mentioned that I should follow my ancestral ways and mentioned White Eagle and White Buffalo Woman. I have some Native American heiratige. Ever since my session with her things have begun to change and I have been wrestling with the idea that I am what she claims I am. I want to believe it’s true but am having a hard time believing it. And now I find a bird feather from a bird I have never seen near my home.

Ever since his passing my family and I have seen blue jays everywhere. His girlfriend was house sitting for a friend and walked out the front door one day and there was 3 blue jay feathers sitting there in front of her. She kept one and gave one to me and my wife and the other to my parents. Don’t know what it all means or if I ever will but we all miss him. I’ve also been followed by the number 77 which was his high school football number. I have a whole album of the number 77 in my phone ,I take a picture every time I see it.

Hello I was delighted to find your blog. I just recently retired after 48 years as a mental health therapist I am feeling a bit lost at this point, leaving behind so many clients that I care deeply for and obviously a career I would never have invested 48 years into, if it hadn’t been so meaningful. I had a dream last night. I was on a train in a boxcar traveling to an unknown destination with my husband and I found 3 brilliant blue jay feathers laying on the boxcar floor. I wondered what it meant. I only know this, all my life the Blue Jay has been my totem bird ..once when I searched it, I found that it symbolized bringing Heaven on Earth that really resonated as I have always accepted that as my life mission.

I have found 5 crow feathers in the last year (4 right wing and one tail) and one dove feather. I have always had lots of crows around the houses where I have lived, but recently I’ve had many many blue jays here. I’ve never seen this before but today there were over a dozen jays that flew overhead at once. I’ve also found 2 blue jay feathers 3 days apart. One is a tail feather and one a left wing feather. Do you happen to know if there any meaning to finding a left vs right wing feather of any bird?

My ten year old chihuahua died this week. When I woke up, he was on his blanket in the kitchen. He had been suffering from heart disease. I was devastated but took him to the vets to be cremated. Last week I lost my 59 year old sister to breast cancer. Feathers have found me on frequent occasions over the last two years. Last year I came across two eagle feathers. Anyway, back to blue jays. So when I returned from the vet, I took my whippet for a walk. I was surprised to not find any feathers in my path to honor my deceased dog. I said to myself…he at least deserves a blue feather. I went into the backyard and sure enough on the edge of my propert was a small blue jay feather. I picked it up, but thought wow, that was a coincidence….this can’t be for me, the following day, I pulled into my driveway and where the driveway meets my grass I saw something sticking straight up out of the yard, yes, it was a second blue jay feather.m this was I felt was for me for my dog. I don’t know what it means but I have both of them and believe my dog is ok.

Hi, thank you for this information. I have been finding Blue Jay feathers just about everyday. A couple of days ago I found 2 Blue Jay feathers and an unusual feather. Looking it up it was a Mallard feather-one half a beautiful blue and the other side black. So that was 3 on that day-and yesterday I found a light grey feather with a spot of white on it. I find these while walking my dog around the apartment complex. After I found the grey feather I saw an older woman tending her plants and one was an unusual plant (cactus type) and I stopped and told her I liked her garden and asked about the unusual one. She was so nice and I felt compelled to offer her my feather as a special gift. She was very happy with it. I then went on with my walk wondering if it was okay to give the gift of a feather I found to someone else as a gift…low and behold I found another as I continued my walk. Today I found a bright feather on my floor as I was moving things around then 2 Blue Jay feathers as I walked-I love each of my feathers. When I get a chance I would like to make a dream catcher using all of my feathers I have in it. In my old neighborhood I would find the most beautiful butterflies. They weren’t alive but they would be right in front of me then my daughters would walk home from school and bring me them too-does that mean anything? Thank you-many blessings πŸ™‚

Dearest Laura. I hope you may help me understand this.

I have a few remarkable stories about my findings of blue Jay feathers. But my first finding is by far a pretty remarkable story, that one landed on my carpet as I was having my morning cup of coffee.
My second finding was while taking a walk with My best friend Erica. She was the one who pointed it out to me. It was on my side.
My third finding was with my friend Debby, on June 6, I was taking a walk with her and found one feather at the edge of someone’s lawn and another feather in the following lawn.

Today I was taking another walk with my best friend Erica
And she looked down and saw a dead blue Jay laying at the edge of the street.
She looked at me and said, Mar, look.. “A BLUEJAY” how strange its that!
She picked up the bluejay and laid it on the grass, away from the street.
I must say It was beautiful. It didn’t looked injured.

As we were about to continue our walk I saw two bluejay feathers about two feet from each other.
She then looked at me again and said… NOW THIS IS GETTING WIERD BECAUSE THAT WAS NOT THERE!

So what does it mean when you find a dead bluejay and two feather

By the way after our walk we return and picked up the bluejay and buried it in Erica’s backyard.
She’s a big time animal lover.

Life has been a bit hectic since having a baby 9 months ago. It’s been so crazy I lost my “inner peace” somewhere along the way. I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately. I haven’t yet figured out how to get back to that peaceful state yet, but having seen two blue jays perching in peculiar spots and seemingly trying to get my attention the last two days, I believe the changes I need to make or the peace which I seek will soon find me. Although your article is a few years old, it remains a useful reinforcement to be aware of ‘signs’ in everyday life. Thank you.

I’ve been struggling to overcome illness lately. My Mother passed last year and we both love nature. For the past few weeks I have been finding single blue jay feathers across my path. After my Mom passed, I wanted her to send me a sign. Now, since I have been ill and kind of discouraged, the feathers have been appearing. I feel like it is a message from my Mom not to worry, that it will be okay. I am glad to find this post to know that others also find meanings in such things. Peace to you all.

My husband found a beautiful blue feather today. When he stepped out of his vehicle there it was on the ground directly in front of him. He brought it inside to show me. How beautiful it is! I told him that I thought it was a message from his Mom who had passed away 10 years ago. They were extremely close and he misses her very much. Thank you for your lovely post.

I have been finding a lot of feathers in the last couple of weeks. I just retired from 33 years of teaching and have been a little fraught about what I am going to do now. Today when I was walking the dog back from the beach by the lake where we have a camp I found 13 Bluejay feathers in a circular pattern but not exactly a circle. What could that mean that I found 13 of them? I have never found more than one feather at a time. I feel as though it’s a message from my mother or someone up above

Eileen, thank you for sharing your experience here! Trust that your inner self knows your truth: “I feel as though it’s a message from my mother or someone up above” – yes – I honor that! Om, Laura

I was taking a walk with my best friend on his family farm in Sumter, SC. At one point we both looked down and saw a blue jay feather. He handed it to me and said you can put this in your book. Just before we had walked past hundreds of brown sunflowers and he said I hoped there would be one still for me to pick for you. e looked around and there was one yellow little sunflower left in a sea of brown ones. He of course picked it for me. I know both of these incidents mean something. I have been going through a separation this year and have struggled with many issues. I am almost to the end of it. My friend has been here for me through it all and I wonder about the significance of these findings.

I was walking with a close friend, for the first time, on his family farm in Sumter. He both looked down at the same time and saw the blue jay feather. He picked it up and handed it to me and said, “put this in your book.” I know this means something but I’m not sure what it is. I have been going through a separation and dealing with other stressful situations. My wonderful friend has been here for me the entire time. He had also picked me a single little yellow sunflower from a sea of all brown dead ones just before we both saw the blue jay feather. What does itall mean?

This morning, I got a call from my doctor. A test came back abnormal, and they’re probably going to have to do a biopsy. I felt very down and full of foreboding after this message, but I went about the day as usual.

When I returned from the grocery store, I found a Blue Jay feather outside my door, and suddenly felt very at peace with the situation. After reading your post, I’m sure this must have been a sign to “attack” my situation with courage.

Blue has always been my favorite color and blue jays my favorite bird because of that. I separated from my husband over a year ago and started seeing someone new two months ago. He works away and we decided to part ways. He just came home and brought back with him a blue Jay feather he had found. When we seen each other this week to say good bye, he gave it to me and told me to look up the meaning. I found this blog and it’s beautiful πŸ™‚

I’m not sure what any of this means. But I feel very peaceful in here. I’ve been searching for a spiritual retreat since my separation. β™‘

    Hi Laura,
I was just googling the meaning of seeing a blue jay bird and came across your article. Wow!!!! First off this morning was my FIRST time seeing not only one, but two blue jays in the back yard in all my 46yrs here on earth that I can recall. The reason I was inclined to google was not only because it was my first time seeing the beautiful birds, but starting in January I begin to see birds I have never before seen. I saw a red cardinal in the small tree in the back yard and a few weeks later my beloved basset hound of 11 1/2yrs passed due to cancer. Funny thing is when I saw the cardinal I was filled with happiness instead of dread. A week after she passed I saw a blue bird (not blue jay) on backyard patio. I was even more excited than with the cardinal. Keep in mind, I had no clue what exactly the sighting of these birds meant, but I literally became overjoyed and full of hope and expectancy. And just this morning the two blue jays and one was feeding on the grave of the basset hound. I wanted to cry. I have no clue what that means or represents, but just for me, the angels and heaven revealed itself to me a message of hope and expectancy of something good forth coming. Laura do you have any thoughts?

Hi Tawana, thank you for sharing such a moving story about your bird interactions! I believe the animal world helps us and gives us messages all the time. When we listen, it can feel almost miraculous sometimes. The birds are speaking to you- letting you know your beloved dog is safe, or representing the Divine presence in your life- or both! Remember to give thanks and take comfort in this joyous time…. Many Blessings to you!

I have been following the signs and deciphering the synchronicities for months now and in my most recent pursuit I ended up here, so I thought I would share my blue jay story with you. I took a walk with my love yesterday. Strolling along the road, I spotted a solitary, brilliant blue feather with black stripes and a white tip. I picked it up and explained how I have a cowboy hat whose brim is full of feathers that I have picked up on my adventures. Yet, in all my adventures I have never found a good blue jay feather.

He told me that I could keep it, as long as I didn’t fly away and leave him behind. I told him that I would stay here until he found one so he could fly away with me… That I wouldn’t leave him behind. We walked on for a piece, exploring a few new areas along the way before returning to his house. As we were walking up his driveway he got really excited about something he had seen and darted off the drive into the tall grass on the side. When he turned back to face me, he was beaming. He had found another feather…. And it wasn’t just any feather either; it was the same brilliant blue feather adorned with black stripes and tipped in white. Now we can fly away together.

Hello. I have had the strangest encounter today and would like to know what it means. Early this morning, a friend of mine brought me a bluejay that they found in the middle of the road. The bluejay was very skittish while my friend was holding him. My friend put him down on the carpet and immediately he hopped right on top of my foot. So I scooped him up ever so gently and held him. He did not try to bite me at all. He just sat there all content like. My mother in law works at a vet clinic. My husband and I took him up to her and unfortunately they could not him. I brought the bluejay home and cared for him. I called the wildlife refuge and unfortunately again they could not help with being evacuated for Hurricane Isaac. I care for him and loved on him until he died in my hands. :'( I tried everything to save him. When I went to buried him, one of his blue stripped tail feathers fell and landed on my foot. Just like when he hopped on my foot. On said foot I have a tattoo of a blue rose and rosary.

I have to leave you a little note thanking you for this post and to share how it is being helpful: I currently need the services of another healer whose site I looked at and my first thought was that I could not afford her. Other signs are pressing, though–her symbol is the hawk, and hawks have been pestering us all winter. The most recent thing Hawk did was retaliate against a bluejay gang in our yard, resulting in leaving three perfect bluejay feathers on our front walk. I Googled to find out what this may mean in conjunction with the symbolism connected to her, and I think the message may be that I should use my talents to offer trade services to work with her. We’ll see how it works out but I was just too amused, especially after reading one of your answers to a reader about three feathers! There are other factors involved that all add into one giant hint cluebat upside the head…I love how the universe works sometimes. πŸ˜€

    Hi Divine Lotus!
I came across your wonderful blog while searching for finding out what a Blue Jay feather means, since I feed the Blue Jay’s in my yard and the Blue Jays and I have this connection but have never found a feather and yesterday there it was and I picked it up and smiled to the heavens and thanked them.
I believe there are messages sent to us all the time but its connecting to the message.
Everyday, I find coins on the ground and lately its been a dime and a penny and wonder what the number 11 means?
I thank you so much Divine Lotus for your soothing, wonderful blog!
Your words and energy come through and I am so happy that I have found you!

    Greetings Blueeyesflash,

I’m glad you found my blog, welcome! Two things come to mind about your finding the bluejay feathers:

    1. The word blue is in your screen name and the feathers are of the same name. In our chakra system blue relates to the throat center and being able to speak our truth.

    2. The number three has powerful mystical meanings; you may have divine beings such as angels near, wanting to connect with you, or they have a message for you. Tune in during meditation and see what comes through for you.

    Namaste.

    Hello,

I found your blog after searching for the symbolism of blue jays. I moved into a new home and it is absolutely covered by these beautiful blue jays. I watch them fly everywhere, they land on my roof, my power lines, my backyard.

Today I found three blue jay feathers next to my mail box. I felt this was a powerful message.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

Thanks for posting your story b/c i wouldn’t have paid much attention this morning.
