This is an anecdotal true story that happened not long ago in my own family.

It was a dewy, unseasonably warm fall New England morning. The kind of morning that stops people in their tracks as they head out the door, making them appreciate the summer season just left behind.
The sun was slowly rising through the trees, casting a warm glow that seemed almost magical due to the hazy steam rising from the street. The birds were slowly beginning to chirp their hello’s to the world.
As in many households, mine was busy with morning routines.
The adults were working like ants in an organized yet frenetic way, hustling here and there, dancing unconsciously around each other, getting lunches into school bags, finding the coats (surprised and then putting back the heavy ones for lighter layers), packing cars to head off for the day.
As the adults rushed around, busy and self consumed with mastering the art of beating the clock during the morning routine, the three year-old boy stood in the driveway – silent and still. His hands were up, extended out, frozen and unmoving, reaching toward nothing in particular and yet at the same time engulfing everything unseen in this world. His feet were squarely planted in a tai chi stance – stable, apart and relaxed.
Minutes passed. His father came and went from the driveway several times, ducking in and out of the house, tossing last-minute items into the car.
“What are you doing?” he finally asked the boy.
“I’m feeling the Reiki.” the boy replied. And with those four spoken words, the magical moment was over.
The boy bounded into the car, excitedly talking about seeing his friends at school that day.
Now, I encourage you. Stop in this moment. Put your hands out. Even better yet – put them on yourself.
Feel the Reiki.
It’s that simple.
No words. No hand motions. No rituals.
Simply feel… the Reiki.
